Tools For Surrender
How to Surrender
Stressful events can lead us to feel shaky and uncertain. In an ever changing and uncertain world, consciously or unconsciously, we seek to gain control.
How do you gain control? List making, schedules, finding comfort in any way possible? How do you cope with the uncontrollable ever shifting landscape of your life? How we cope, in part, is how we develop our identity; we build our lives around these comforts and control. Interesting, right?
To shift out of control to a place of surrender, one must first recognize where fear lies. What feels scary to let go of, feel and accept? To take you further on this journey, download your journal below.
Approach letting go from a place of curiosity and love instead of fear and see how powerfully transformative surrender can be.
Follow These Steps Below For Letting Go
1. Choose a cozy place where you won't be interrupted and where you can lie down on your belly and stretch out.
2. Take a few deep breaths to begin by expanding your low belly at the inhale and contracting at the exhale. Feel the safety of this posture with the earth supporting you beneath.
3. Begin tensing your entire body at a tolerable amount — facial muscles, arms, belly, legs and feet. Squeeze your muscles, constrict your body, and tense your limbs. Hold for a couple of seconds and study the sensations that you feel.
4. After 5-10 seconds, release and exhale.
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 three times.
“Don't look for peace. Don't look for any other state than the one you are in now; otherwise, you will set up inner conflict and unconscious resistance. Forgive yourself for not being at peace. The moment you completely accept your non-peace, your non-peace becomes transmuted into peace. Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace. This is the miracle of surrender” ― Eckhart Tolle
